Digitization and Visualization of Archives and Collections - Development and application of concepts, methods and visual tools for interactive presentation and analysis of archivals

The project builds on new possibilities of the development of generic interfaces and the visual exploration of archives and collections and combines them with regard to a modular set of open source software for visual presentation and examination of archival documents. The development and application of the concepts, methods and tools takes place prototypically on the example of the radical constructivism and the Ernst von Glasersfeld Archive, on the other hand, the modular tool set can generally be used in memory institutions in the cultural field (GLAM).

Project lead: Univ.-Prof. Dr. Theo Hug, Dr. Eva Zangerle

Duration: 01.10.2018 – 30.11.2020 (supported by the Tyrolean Regional Government, Lighthouse-projects in the Field of Digitization, Project #541-1-5)

Yocomo Spin-off launched

Mobile communication and m-learning refer to a wide range of concepts, applications, and practices. What is new in “mobile learning” comes from the interplay between cultural, medial and social developments and not just from the possibilities opened up by portable devices. It is also a question of cultural and educational developments, forms of learning, as well as social, cognitive and physical mobility. Cross-over concepts like microlearning and micromedia help us to understand and to design learning environments. One of our most successful applications is being distributed and further developed by the Yocomo GmbH, a spin-off of the University of Innsbruck and the Austrian Research Centers GmbH. For details of the mobile training solution see www.yocomo.at, for conceptual and educational discussions see Didactics of Microlearning.
